Badges of the NRMA – A history of the Emblem since 1920
The publication was in A5 format with 74 pages, only a very small print run was produced for evaluation purposes. However the NRMA decided to use their budget to celebrate the 90 years with a special dinner inviting 90 members and their guests. I guess full tummies are better than helping to preserve and share a company’s history.
With the NRMA not interested with the completed project the idea of full publication was abandoned until John Fennell’s insistence fired up my enthusiasm and I decided to rewrite and expand the manuscript to include all motoring Associations of NSW.
The Royal Automobile Club of Australia was extremely helpful when it came time to research their archives and a large quantity of valuable material was found. It was decided at this point to dedicate the book to the Badges of the Royal Automobile Club of Australia. The NRMA manuscript was rewritten as a badge collectors guide and included within. This was within the books title as the RACA was initially responsible and financially assisted the formation of the NRMA.
